The Killer
When I saw it, I was paralyzed.
Claws and curved tail struck terror in me.
It sneaked around on the floor,
Staying along the wall as to better hide.
My next move I debated,
Should I cover him with a jar
or kill the creature
All my strength went into the shoe in hand
The creature was stunned, and appeared dead.
Had it really been that easy?
I breathed a sigh of relief,
And celebrated my victory
Until he moved again.
Once again, he started crawling stealthily.
He made his way into my bedroom
I threw once again a shoe at him
But this time I missed
I picked up the first shoe
But missed again.
Tears began to well in my eyes.
My enemy was nearing me, and I was unprepared.
Unprepared, emotionally and mentally.
I once again tried throwing the shoe.
It only scared him.
Soon he would be under cover, out of my reach.
I tried once more.
This time, the shoe landed forcefully upon him.
I waited for him to crawl out from the shoe,
But he did not, and so I can only imagine he is dead.
Only now am I regaining feeling in my legs.
Scared out of my wits I was,
And by such a small creature.
A small creature, indeed, a scorpion.
